Social Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam chaired a meeting regarding disbursement of various student scholarships within the department. The meeting was attended by the Director of SC-ST Welfare Department, and high ranking officials of the Education Department & Finance Department. It had come to the Social Welfare Minister’s notice that there were certain pendencies regarding disbursement of student scholarships under SC/ST/OBC department which was causing inconvenience to students. Okhla activists plan Bal Niwas for children who lost parents to Covid-19 Some Okhla-based activists, who run NGOs, said they are planning to open a Bal Niwas for children who lost their parents to Covid pandemic. “We ask sustainers (donors) to support the initiative. We had rented a flat last month. We have been building it. Now electrical work, furniture, mattresses, beds, kitchen utilities remain. Watch: Early-morning blaze in Jamia Nagar doused, no casualties The early morning fire which broke out in P block of Jogabai Extension was doused by the fire brigade with no casualties being reported from the area, according to a local resident. Farman, well aware of the development, said the fire had broken at 4 am and nobody was hurt but some jhuggis were gutted. The reason behind the fire couldn’t be ascertained, he said, adding that local authorities also turned up at the spot.
