Sir Syed Mission School

Award winning journalism, e-hyper-local! Telling stories of Okhla daily.

Running without any institutional support, the hyperlocal platform now has thousands of captive local residents who daily read reports and watch videos.

Whether it is Jamia Millia Islamia or Shaheen Bagh or Batla House, Jasola, Sarita Vihar, New Friends Colony or environment or health or toxic plant in the residential areas, the lifestyle e-daily has covered every incident small or big all these years with some of its videos going viral.

It strives hard to highlight important issues, like lack of quality school, piled up garbage on roadsides, non-availability of drinking water, traffic snarl, low-quality buildings, women issues and sewage.

To reach a wide range of residents, including youths and women, the portal uses social networking sites like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and others, to reach readers.

Also, it provides a platform to residents to discuss local issues, locate and review nearby businesses, and read and contribute local news stories.

The portal is an experimental issue-led community journalism initiative with active residents also providing tip-off for story, strengthening local governance and empowering marginalised through digital inclusion.
