Yaseer Saifi was 24 years old and was an electrician. After being found with life-threatening injuries he was rushed to AIIMS for treatment. A few days ago he was operated upon. Today he passed away, said Yaseer’s brother Yawar Saifi. Following the death, former Congress Okhla MLA Asif Md Khan, who is away from the city, said Yaseer’s family should get compensation.

Congress leader Arfa Khanam said Yaseer, who was attacked with knife in Batla House a few days ago, has died. Congress leader Gentle Hidatullah said it is heartbreaking development.

After being attacked with sharp objects most probably knife in Batla House, Yaseer was rushed to AIIMS with life-threatening injuries, according to his family members.

On the second day in AIIMS, Yaseer on Monday morning was taken to operation theatre, said his brother Yawar Saifi from the hospital.

Yaseer’s mother, brother and a friend spoke with the OT on Sunday.

Yawar told the OT they have no idea who stabbed him but whoever did it must be a demon. “We got a call explaining about the incident and then we reached Batla House and brought him to AIIMS where he was operated upon and his condition is critical,” he said.

The reason behind the attack is not known and probe is on.

The knife attack has surfaced only a few days after 25-year-old Talib was lynched by some in Batla House in fight over gulli danda, sparking a political slugfest between the Congress and AAP.
