An action against wrong-side driving was taken on Tuesday morning when traffic police and local police turned up on Batla House road to check the menace, said activist Md Sagheer who was on the spot.

He said wrong-side driving has been a big issue in the locality and despite several appeals nobody pays heed to it. Residents lamented that mostly during peak time it is common to see residents in a hurry to reach their destination taking wrong-side, unaware of the fact that their irresponsible act causes traffic jams and hardship to others.

Residents and commuters, who get stuck in traffic snarl for hours, due to wrong-side driving, said there are certain points, like Batla House, Jamia Millia Islamia, Okhla Head and other places, where one see wrong-side driving and a permanent solution should be found to the area’s most vexing problem.

From time to time some residents have made efforts but it has failed to yield positive results. Reacting to the OT video of crackdown on wrong-side driving, a resident wrote that such drives should be conducted regularly so that the issue is resolved forever.

Also, residents have been demanding traffic police positioning in the locality at main points to regulate traffic and avoid traffic snarls on a daily basis.
