Watch: Dreams come true for these women of Okhla

For years women of this part of Okhla had dreamt of having a park where they could exercise and walk. And on January 26 their dream turned true when the elected RWA of A-D Block threw open a women special park for residents in D Block.

The RWA said by doing so it has fulfilled its manifesto promise that the new panel headed by Asif had made a few years ago. “The area was used for garbage dumping. But we got it cleared and did some real hard work to turn it into a park for women and young children. Sitting arrangements and other items have also been installed so that elderly women can feel comfortable,” said the RWA in a statement.

The development has been appreciated by residents of other areas in Jamia Nagar who said though the area has developed it is just concrete jungle with no facilities for residents. High-rise buildings have come up in years and the population has exploded with flat prices hitting the roof but there is no facility, including park, for children and women, said another residents Md Taj.

Residents are of the firm opinion that other RWAs in the locality should follow suit and open parks in their vicinity for women and children.
