Watch: Know why traders in this part of Batla House fuming over lost business

Traders in this part of Batla House are deeply upset after their businesses take a beating due to waterlogged street for the last more than ten days. They told the OT that in the morning the Sir Syed street near Haryana Store gets inundated with sewer water causing hardship to residents. As the street gets waterlogged, customers have stopped coming to us, said one shop owner, adding that they have informed Congress Councillor Shoaib Danish and AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan but no permanent solution has taken place.

We want the waterlogging to be sorted out as soon as possible so that our business gets back on track, said another shop owner. A resident said even patients are facing hardship as the road to a small maternity centre is waterlogged. A resident said from time to time, people from representatives are coming and after some work the water recedes but it comes back again and hence they want a permanent solution.

It has been noticed, according to residents, that in the blame game between the Councillor and the MLA, it is the people who suffer hardship.

In the just concluded MCD election 2022, sitting Councillor Shoaib Danish registered victory from the Zakir Nagar ward for the fourth time in a row. As the ward was reserved for women, his wife Nazia Danish won with a wafer thin margin defeated AAP’s Salma Ariz.
