    Ticket-seekers in Okhla launch poster blitz, frittering away lakhs of rupees on defacing Jamia Nagar

    Hoping for a party ticket to contest the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections, which is just a few months away, some leaders and activists nursing political clout, have already launched poster blitz in Okhla.

    Most of them have got their posters pasted illegally across the locality, defacing the whole locality.

    A walk through the locality shows banners hanging, posters on walls, said one Okhla watcher, adding that just see in their desperate desire to get ticket these self-proclaimed leaders some being backed by facebookya activists nursing political ambition, who are never seen taking interest in local issues for five years, have now started to deface the whole area and then they come to you claiming that s/he can only develop the locality.

    In the posters, these leaders are seen with their photos and wives after the two wards in Okhla, Zakir Nagar and Abul Fazal Enclave, being reserved for women.

    The ticket seekers are leaving no stone unturned to impress upon their party top leaders to give them ticket and some are going around the city claiming that they are the only one who can bring change in the area, said a resident, requesting anonymity.

    Some have even started throwing feast for residents to win their hearts and minds and there is nothing wrong in it but had they spent even a small amount of money on some developmental projects of Okhla the situation would have completely changed in years, he said.
