SPI extends support to INDIA alliance

Today Socialist Party (India) organised a meeting at Rajendra Bhawan, New Delhi to extend support to INDIA alliance for the country’s next General Elections in 2024. The theme of the meeting was ‘Save Constitution, Save Democracy,’ ‘Save Secularism, Defeat Communal Alliance,’ and ‘Support INDIA Alliance.’

Among the people who spoke at this meeting were senior Congres Party leader Deepak Babaria, Delhi Congress Party President Arvinder Singh Lovely, Congress leader Mohammad Hidayatullah, former independent MP Mohammad Adeeb, two times former MLA from Madhya Pradesh Dr. Sunilam, Swaraj India leader Ajit Jha, Internationalist Democratic Party leader from J&K, I.D. Khajuria, Socialist Intellectual Vijay Pratap, President of Muslim Youth League Asif Ansari, Senior Advocate of Supreme Court Anil Nauriya, community leader Nargis Khan and Socialist Mahila Sabha President Dr. Shuchita Kumar.

Senior Socialist Party (India) declared party’s unilateral support to INDIA alliance for the next Lok Sabha elections in 2024. Deepak Babaria praised the socialist ideals of justice and equality. Mohammad Adeeb pointed out to Congress that they should stand for the rights of Muslims when any injustice is done to them. They should not give in to the pressures of communal politics.

Vijay Pratap said the people should carefully check their voters’ list and ensure that their names are not being removed. Sunilam, as the main speaker of the meeting, said people had come to the SP(I) meeting because they wanted a guarantee of security for common people, which had come under threat in BJP rule.

He moved a resolution that people of India are with the people of Palestine, as they have traditionally been, in the current war between Israel and Hamas. He said Mahatma Gandhi was committed to Hindu-Muslim unity and so are people who have organized the meeting today.

Sunilam said support to INDIA is unconditional but INDIA alliance should also guarantee implementation of Minimum Support Price, scrapping of Labour Codes and security of minorities.

The meeting was chaired by SP(I) Vice President Manjoo Mohan. The programme was organized by Delhi Socialist Party (India) President Syed Tahseen Ahmad ably assisted by Mohammad Chand and Rizwan Khan, said Syed Tahseen Ahmad, president, Socialist Party (India).
