    Man shot dead in Jamia Nagar a few hours ago: Okhla residents

    My friend shot died in Jamia Nagar a few hours ago: Okhla resident

    Man dies after being shot multiple times in Noor Nagar a few hours ago, according to netizens on Sunday. Sharing this information on the social media, Syed Junaid wrote some 30 minutes ago: “Some people fired on my friend Wasif and he received three bullets. He was rushed to Holy Family Hospital but with great sorrow I am writing that Wasif is no more with us.”

    Also he shared photo of the young man.

    Investigation is underway as the whole area where the incident took place in Noor Nagar has been cordoned off, said Okhla youth leader Syed Fouzul Azeem urf Arshi.

    “The incident took place during Asar namaaz nearby a mosque in Noor Nagar. After sustaining life-threatening injuries, he was rushed to a local hospital but he died and his body has been sent for post-portem. Wasif Sattar Ghazi was the only son in his family, a resident of Noor Nagar,” said Arshi, adding that he must be in his 40s.

    Sudhar Trust chairman Md Sagheer told the OT over phone that one person has been shot dead in Noor Nagar after Asar namaaz.

    The development has left residents shocked as the area is known for low crime rates viz-a-viz murder.

    Another Okhla leader Mahmood Ahmed informed his friends through social media about the death of Wasif. “Wasif was my junior at Jamia Millia Islamia…he was shot dead,” he wrote. Ahmed said he studied MSW from Jamia. Several posts too surfaced in which it was claimed that Wasif was an alumnus of Jamia.

    Till the filing of this report, several posts on social media about the death have surfaced.

    “A youth, namely Wasif, was shot dead in Jamia Nagar area today. After receiving info, the injured youth was immediately taken to the hospital, however, he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital. Search is on for the accused, said police reported by ANI, news agency.

    The reason behind the killing is yet to be ascertained as probe is on.

    “Cops are scanning CCTV footage of nearby areas. The deceased worked as a property dealer in Jamia Nagar,” an officer said. Police are probing the case from all angles, including personal enmity and business disputes.
