Ranveer Allahbadia requires little introduction. A prominent Indian YouTuber and podcaster, he is also known by his alias, BeerBiceps. Renowned for his captivating content on fitness, lifestyle, and personal growth, he has amassed a massive following. However, he recently found himself embroiled in a major controversy stemming from a comment he made on the hugely popular YouTube show India’s Got Latent. The show is hosted by comedian Samay Raina.

The show, adored by young audiences, quickly became the epicenter of a storm on February 10, 2025, during a special episode. Ranveer Allahbadia posed a question to a contestant that many found highly inappropriate and offensive.

The remark ignited widespread outrage online, with viewers vocally criticising the content for being vulgar and disrespectful.

Following which several FIRs were filed against Ranveer Allahbadia and others involved in the show. The Maharashtra government swiftly intervened, launching an investigation and instructing the cultural department to examine the offensive comments made during the episode.

Amid the raging controversy, YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia said: “I am feeling scared… But, I am not running away.”

The podcaster said in an Instagram post: “I am watching death threats pour in from people saying that they want to kill me and hurt my family. I am feeling scared and I don’t know what to do… But I am not running away. I have full faith in the police and the judicial system of India.”

Apologising again for his remarks, Allahbadia today said: “My remark about parents was insensitive and disrespectful and I am genuinely sorry.”

He had previously requested the Khar police to record his statement at his residence, but his plea was denied. In the meantime, a team from the Assam police has also expressed interest in questioning Allahbadia regarding a case filed in Guwahati. The complaint, lodged by a local resident, accuses him of promoting obscenity through his publicly accessible online show.

“Comedy is not my forte. Just here to say sorry… Many of you asked if this is how I wish to use my platform…. Family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect. Need to use this platform better and that’s been my learning from this whole experience. I promise to just get better… I hope you can forgive me as a human being,” he had said in a video statement on X.

The controversial video has been deleted from YouTube.

The police in Mumbai tried to speak to Allahbadia at his home, but when they arrived, his apartment was locked, and they couldn’t find him. Later, the police sent a notice for him to come to the Khar police station for questioning.

As the situation worsened, Ranveer Allahbadia publicly apologised for his comment. He admitted that his remark was insensitive and expressed regret for offending people. He said that his attempt at humor was not received as intended, and he took full responsibility for what happened.

Things became more serious when Allahbadia mentioned that he had been receiving death threats. He also shared that people had visited his mother’s clinic, pretending to be patients, in an attempt to threaten his family. Despite these threats, Allahbadia emphasised that he was cooperating with the authorities and following legal procedures.

The incident quickly gained attention from the public, and many celebrities and influencers expressed their opinions. Comedian Vir Das defended new media platforms like YouTube, saying that the backlash against Allahbadia and Raina was too harsh.

On the other hand, some people supported the actions taken against Allahbadia. They argued that content creators must be responsible for the things they say and that they should follow social norms and sensitivities when creating content.

The controversy surrounding Ranveer Allahbadia highlights the challenge of balancing creativity with social responsibility. As investigations continue, this event serves as a reminder of the powerful impact public figures have through their platforms and the need to be respectful and careful with the content they share.
