    Pension cards for elderly, differently-abled soon: Delhi government

    To issue pension cards for elderly, differently-abled soon: Delhi government

    The Delhi Government will make seeking pensions easier for the elderly and differently-abled. Social Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam chaired a high-level meeting to ease out pension process. He instructed officers to expedite and ensure timeliness in pension disbursal. He said: “Delhi Government to soon issue pension cards for the elderly and differently-abled. We are preparing the blueprint for the same.”

    During the meeting, the Social Welfare Minister reviewed various facilities including pensions which are given been given to the elderly. The new system with ease out the process of disbursement of pension to the elderly and differently-abled. He was briefed about the status of pension given to the elderly and differently-abled by the officials and he directed them to disburse the pension in a timely manner. During the meeting, he also took account of facilities provided in the old-age homes. He said: “Old-age homes are ensuring that the elderly are healthy, they are being given nutritious food and they live in the homes in happy spirit so that they do not feel that they are staying far from their families.”

    It is noteworthy that the Delhi Government provides monthly pension to 4.52 lakh elderly. Every elderly is given Rs 2,500. The government also provides the same amount of pension to 1.14 lakh differently-abled people.

    Gautam said: “The elderly and differently-abled people eagerly wait for the pension provided by the Government every month. It is our duty to ensure that they are given pension in a timely manner so that they can buy the daily necessities conveniently. We will soon issue pension cards to disburse pensions to the elderly and differently-abled people. Elderly play pivotal role in our lives. However, there are some elderly who are homeless. Arvind Kejriwal considers all such elderly like his parents and like a son, he is providing them with world-class facilities at Old-age homes. Delhi Government under the leadership of Kejriwal is committed towards providing better services to the people of Delhi.”
