    Watch: Fire in Batla House doused, 35 shanties gutted, 5 cattle killed

    Fire in Batla House. Zakir Nagar ward Councillor Shoaib Danish told the OT that after coming to know about the fire breaking out at S Block near Umar Farooq Masjid in Jogabai Extension, he rushed to the spot and joined other residents in the fire dousing exercise.

    A few minutes ago the Councillor said the fire has been douse and no untoward incident has taken place. The main cause for the fire is yet to be ascertained. Several videos and photos of the fire have been doing the rounds.

    Farman said a video of the incident was also uploaded on Danish timeline where he could be seen helping the residents dousing the fire. He said 4 buffaloes have died in the fire and several jhuggis gutted. It was at 3.30 pm when we came to know about the fire and reached the spot, he said.

    There were no human casualties in the incident, said officials.

    A call about the fire in a slum cluster in Batla House area was received at 3:15 pm and 11 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Five cattle died in the incident, Director of Delhi Fire Services Atul Garg said.

    “Around 35-40 huts had caught fire, which was doused by 4:40 pm,” he said.
