Jamia Teachers’ body postpones Sept 27 protest march to VC office after university notices, reiterates 10 demands

Jamia Teachers’ Association (JTA) has postponed its protest march to the Vice Chancellor Office today at 12.30 pm after university administration issued two hard-hitting notices, warning students of Jamia, including teaching and non-teaching staff not to assemble in groups/march/agitation/dharna/meetings etc. in and outside campus failing which the violators will be held responsible for action by the Delhi Police.

Following the notices, an emergency extended EC of JTA was held today at 11 am in the office of the JTA. The letter received from the Registrar was placed before members and discussed. The extended-EC expressed their satisfaction as most of our demands have been accepted and endorsed as communicated by the Registrar in his letter. The Registrar further informed that other resolutions are also under consideration. We again reiterate our demands here and hope they will be addressed and resolved without further delay,” said JTA president Professor Majid Jamil.

In the JTA letter addressed to the Registrar, the teachers’ body has raised 10 demands to be addressed soon.

“In the light of above, we are holding our proposed protest march scheduled today at 12.30 pm in abeyance,” said the notice.
