2 vehicles fell into open nallah in Abul Fazal Enclave within hours

The incidents of vehicles falling into the open drain in Abul Fazal Enclave continue. On Wednesday, two vehicles fell in the nallah — one in the evening and the other at night, according to eyewitnesses. Both vehicles were parked at the open drain in Abul Fazal Enclave. This is the third such incident this year.

A few days ago, an e-rickshaw parked on the service road also fell into the drain. Earlier, another e-rickshaw fell into the drain when its owner parked it near the edge and went to relieve himself. The reason for these incidents is unclear, but local residents say sometimes vehicle owners park their vehicles too close to the drain. “As a result, the soil gives way, and the vehicles fall in,” said a resident.

Fortunately, no one was inside these vehicles when they fell.

Local residents rushed to retrieve the vehicles. And only after hours of effort, the vehicles were finally removed.

One vehicle remained in the drain for several hours, while its owner wandered around, visibly distressed. A witness said despite numerous efforts, the vehicle couldn’t be removed, leading the owner to seek help from professional firm. The extent of the damage to the vehicles is not yet known.

If you travel along the Abul Fazal-Al Shifa road, you may have noticed how vehicles are often parked on roadsides narrowing the road, leading to traffic snarl in the area.

In one such incident, a vehicle hit three other vehicles during the night and fled. The owner of the vehicle says they tried their best to locate the accused but couldn’t. They say their vehicle was damaged, along with three auto-rickshaws parked nearby. This incident occurred late at night while people were asleep.

Illegal parking has become a major issue in the area. People park their vehicles wherever they find empty space, without considering the inconvenience caused to others, said Rizwan.

“Many residents own flats but lack designated parking spaces, forcing them to park on the road. Some deliberately park on the road to save money, according to a local resident,” he said.

The roads, initially meant for traffic, are now occupied by illegally parked vehicles, creating further issues.

Local residents blame builders for selling flats worth crores but failing to provide adequate parking facilities. Many Muslims move to the area hoping for a better environment, only to face challenges with unscrupulous builders. However, it’s important to note that not all builders are bad — some are genuinely honest.

Those parking their vehicles near the drain should be cautious to avoid similar accidents. Such incidents not only cause inconvenience but also lead to significant financial and emotional distress for vehicle owners.
