AAP set to sweep MCD: Exit polls;  who winning Okhla?

Three exit polls are showing that the Aam Aadmi Party’s is expected to register its first win in the MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi). The results will be out on Wednesday.

The party – ruling in the national capital – is likely to win somewhere between 149 and 171 seats in the civic elections, the India Today Axis My India exit poll has predicted.

The AAP may get 149-171 wards, according to an exit poll by Aaj Tak-Axis My India. Another exit poll by Times Now-ETG shows Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s party getting anywhere between 146 and 156 wards. Zee News-BARC exit poll gives the AAP 134-146, BJP 82-94 and Congress 8-14.

If it turns out to be true on result days, the BJP’s 15 year of rule in MCD will come to end.

The MCD has a total of 250 wards.

(Health warning: Exit polls often get it wrong).

In this background it would be interesting to see whether the AAP will win all five seats in Okhla. All eyes are on Zakir Nagar seat which has been the bastion of the Congress for the last fifteen years with Shoaib Danish being the sitting Councillor.

With the seat being reserved for women this year, Danish wife is contesting.

In Shaheen Bagh ward, Wajid Khan is trying his luck for the second time like Nitu Manish Choudhary of Sarita Vihar ward.

Residents will come to know about who will win Okhla after results are out on Wednesday.
