    Fine for not wearing face masks at public places returns in Delhi

    As cases of Covid continue to rise in Delhi with the city registering 1,042 fresh cases with positivity rate of 4.64 per cent while two persons died due to the infection, according to data shared by the city health department on Friday, the city government has made masks mandatory at public places.

    Violators will be slapped with a fine of Rs 500. For the time being the order issued by the city’s Health and Family Welfare Department has kept those travelling together in a private four-wheeler are out of the purview of the new rule.

    The Delhi Disaster Management Authority(DDMA) had in a meeting last Wednesday decided to make masks mandatory at public places with a fine of Rs 500 for any violation.

    “A fine of Rs 500 for not wearing of face mask in all public places in Delhi will be imposed from immediate effect till further orders,” the DDMA said.
