He said he was detained for asking officials to show notice for demolition of illegal jhuggi in Toba Colony of Zakir Nagar. He said he was taken to Jamia Nagar police station and released after hours.

The demolition drive was carried out by the Delhi Development Authority, officials said. The drive started at 11 am on Tuesday and around 70 unauthorised jhuggis were removed, a senior police officer said.

Slum dwellers said an eviction notice was pasted a day ago but they couldn’t move out as it had been raining all night and in the morning officials came in to remove them. The demolition drive was held peacefully, said residents.
