Fund crisis in Jamia, opening of hostels, CUET and other issues raised by JTA

In the inaugural address of Teachers’ Day celebrated with joy in a houseful gathering of hundreds of teachers including retired ones at Jamia Millia Islamia, JTA president Prof Majid Jamil mentioned the fund crisis in the university and thanked the Government for releasing a major chunk of pending funds.

Save community journalism by paying Rs 500, 1,000 and more.

He was hopeful of release of the rest of pending funds soon.

Prof Majid said the administration should focus on improvement of university infrastructure and its maintenance, timely release of Academic Calendar, declaration of results on time.

He demanded that hostels of the university should open as soon as university opens.

He stressed that CUET in its first instance is a failure because so far no admission has taken place in different universities.

Also he expressed that NEP should be so that it helps Madrasa students too in keeping them at par with other fellow citizens.

He thanked the Vice Chancellor for the promotion of teachers.

Citing a parallel programme organised by the Dean of Student Welfare, Prof. Jamil advised the office that it is good they recognised the services of teachers for the first time; however, DSW should work to open hostels, gym, canteen and other facilities and take serious steps in the welfare of students for which this office has been instituted.
