    Hijab row: Some Jamia students take out march on campus & security stepped up

    Hijab row: Some Jamia students take out march on campus & security stepped up

    Some Jamia Millia Islamia students took out a march on the campus on Thursday, according to social media posts.

    Following which security was stepped up at the campus. A university official said following a social media post by some students for holding protest against hijab row, security was stepped up on the campus.

    On its social media handle, the Campus Front of India posted a few photos and video of the march inside the campus.

    Activists of Campus Front of India and students of Jamia protested against hijab ban at 1 pm at gate number 7 of Jamia…, wrote a Jamia student Arbab Ali on his timeline a few hours ago.

    The students extended solidarity to the hijabi women of Karnataka protesting against the hijab ban in the State, he said.

    In the video uploaded on the timeline, a small number of students, including girls wearing hijab, can be seen marching inside the campus and raising slogans.

    A resident, who was coming from Jamia, said security was upped outside the campus. A YouTuber, who covered the event, told the OT over phone that several security personnel were seen outside the campus. They had turned up after coming to know about the protest, he said.
