Are you using pressure horns, modified silencers? Know about this new order

Many Okhla residents fed up with bike owners using pressure horns and modified silencers heaved a sigh of relief after the Delhi Traffic Police announced on Saturday to start penalising vehicle owners using pressure horns and modified silencers.

“Starting today, #DelhiTrafficPolice shall be penalising those who use pressure horns and modified silencers in their vehicles. #DelhiMeinShorNahi,” the Delhi Traffic Police tweeted.

A fine of Rs 1,000 will be imposed on violators, said the police.

Modifying silencers come under registration certificate (RC) violation.

“Challans will be issued to those found creating noise pollution by violating the norms and using pressure horns or modified silencers,” the officer said.

“We will interview doctors and ask them about the ill-effects of noise pollution. We will air the interview to educate people so that they stop using modified silencers and pressure horns,” another officer said.

The new order has been welcomed by residents who said it should be implemented in Okhla too where it is normal to see many youngsters using pressure horns, modified silencers creating noise pollution in the area. A few days ago, a resident has raised the issue of modified silencers and pressure horns in the locality urging activists to raise the issue so that the nuisance can be addressed.
