    Prof who founded Dept of Computer Engineering, 7 staffers say goodbye to Jamia

    A farewell event was held for eight employees, who served Jamia Millia Islamia, all these years in different capacities, and retired from their services in December, 2021.

    Ashhad Alam, Mahfooz Ahmad, Mohammad Farooq, Mohammad Hasan, Mohd Mursaleen, Professor MN Doja, Shaikhul Inam and Shamsher Ali Ansari retired, said a university statement issued on Monday.

    Of them Professor Doja was the founder head of the Department of Computer Engineering for six years from its inception and established the innovative and upcoming labs in the department. He started BTech (Computer Engineering) and BE (Computer Engineering) as day and evening course respectively. He started PhD programme in the Department of Computer Engineering.

    He received his BSC (Engg), MTech and PhD degrees from BIT, IIT Delhi and Jamia. His areas of research were Software Engineering, Networks, Security, Simulation, Operating System and Soft Computing. And during his stay at the university, he was a member of Academic Council, Board of Research Studies and Board of Studies of a number of universities including Ambedkar University Lucknow, NSIT New Delhi, AMU Aligarh, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Delhi, NIT Jalandhar, Hamdard University New Delhi etc.

    He served as a member of Court, Executive Council and Academic Council of Jamia.

    Jamai Vice Chancellor Prof Najma Akhtar hosted a “Wishing You a Happy Farewell” event followed by a tea party for them.

    On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor said major life events like retirement merits a ‘Wishing You Happy Farewell’.

    “The idea behind the event was to share their happiness and wishing them all the best for their future endeavours and healthy life,” she said, reiterating that it was the collective efforts of all the teaching and non-teaching employees of the university that resulted in A++ accreditation by NAAC.
