To open English medium school in each ward: SDMC

On the initiative of Commissioner of South Delhi Municipal Corporation Gyanesh Bharti, the Education Department is going to start one fully English medium school in each ward of the civic agency from the new session.

Save community journalism by paying Rs 500, 1,000 and more.

The move is being taken in view of impact and importance of English in present scenario.

Due to the increasing social and employment impact of the English language in present situation, the need for this was being felt since a long period of time.

Director of Education Department Pradeep Kumar said the SDMC will run one English medium school in each ward from new academic session 2022-23.

It means the SDMC will run 104 English medium schools in its area as the corporation has total 104 wards. For this purpose, process to purchase books of English medium has been started. The civic agency will deploy its  teachers having proper skill and expertise in English in these English medium schools, it said in a statement.

The civic agency has made adequate arrangements in its schools like installation of RO water system, construction and development of play grounds and smart classrooms, free Mid-Day meal, distribution of school bags, dress, books, stationary and has made provision of scholarships for the students, it said.

Despite these efforts, few parents were sending their children in private schools for education and the reason was English medium, it said.

Besides this, sections of English medium will also be started as per the need in remaining 464 SDMC schools so students willing to learn in English medium can get education accordingly in these schools also, it said.
