Khedmat empowers widows and youths fight against drug abuse

Khedmat has been helping Shabnam, a widow and resides in a rented flat in Zakir Nagar, since Ramazan, according to Faiz Ilahi.

“She teaches kids for living and her work was hit by lockdown and closing of schools. Khedmat had earlier helped her with medicinal and nebulizer machine support on a SOS call in Ramazan, then she was admitted to Noor Nagar. Khedmat had assisted her with some financial support. Khedmat had also arranged her oxygen,” said Ilahi, a claim that the portal couldn’t verify independently.

Besides, many youths have joined hands to fight against drug abuse in the area, according to a resident who participated in one such meeting with councillor Abdul Wajid Khan.

“We have united against abuse of drugs in the locality. We will be working together with the councillor team and authorities in dealing with such cases,” wrote Okhla Youth Federation in a statement issued to the media.
