The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia inaugurated an electric vehicle charging station at Patparganj today. East Delhi’s first ever public charging EV station is equipped with all modern facilities. It can charge four vehicles at the same time, for 45 to 90 minutes. Heavy duty vehicles like SUV, Mahindra, Hyundai, Kona etc can be charged at this EV station.

On this occasion, Sisodia said electric vehicles are our future as we can make Delhi pollution free. People who have purchased EVs are currently facing charging issues. This EV charging station installed here will solve that problem.

“ As we come across petrol pumps everywhere, now we will also see EV charging stations everywhere,” said Sisodia.

This station will cater to the needs of the people of East Delhi and Patparganj area. This will increase the trend of using electric vehicles in the area and the residents will  also get relief from pollution. This EV charging station is well equipped with the capacity of charging four Electric vehicles at the same time.  Cars with larger battery sizes (like Hyundai, Kona etc.) can be charged in about 45 minutes and cars like Mahindra e-Verito, Tata Tigor can be charged in about 90 minutes.

The initial charge for this EV charging facility will be Rs 10.50 per unit for a limited period, which is the lowest amongst the current EV tariff rates (for public) in Delhi.  A software application called PlugNGO has been made available on Google Play Store facilitating  citizens to make advance booking for charging their EVs.  Pre-booking facility is also available via mobile phones.

It may be noted that BYPL has ramped up the process to install more EV charging stations in Delhi. For this, this station has been set up at Swati Apartment, Patparganj in collaboration with M/s EV Motors. This charging station has been set up around NH-9 connecting the areas of Ghaziabad and Noida to South-East Delhi. Citizens of the nearby areas will also be able to benefit from this facility.
