Dr Shaban Ahmad, PhD graduate under the supervision of Dr Khalid Raza, Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science, Jamia Millia Islamia, has been selected as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
The position offers an annual salary of 5,93,000 DKK (₹ 77 lakh), inclusive of full healthcare, and generous funding for conferences and collaborative research.

During his doctoral studies, Dr Shaban Ahmad made noteworthy contributions to AI-driven drug discovery, bioinformatics, and computational pharmacology, with a focused application in lung cancer therapeutics.
Dr Shaban Ahmad has been instrumental in designing deep learning-based frameworks for drug repurposing in lung cancer, with a novel focus on multi-protein targeting strategies to overcome resistance — a critical challenge in contemporary oncology research. His research, which led to identifying multitargeted inhibitors against lung cancer and other crucial proteins, has been published in several high-impact journals. His academic portfolio is distinguished by a granted patent, along with over 40 peer-reviewed research articles (majority in Q1/Q2 journals).
At the University of Copenhagen, Dr Ahmad will work on AI-driven data strategies to prevent vector-borne viral infections in livestock while contributing to structure-informed drug optimisation against priority pathogens. His research aligns with the EU’s One Health framework, bridging human, animal, and environmental health through data-centric biomedical innovation.

About mentor Dr Khalid Raza
Dr Khalid Raza is currently working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science, Jamia. He is an Honorary Adjunct Professor at UCSI University, and Honorary Research Fellow at INTI International University, Malaysia. He was on foreign deputation during the academic session 2017-2018 and worked as a Visiting Professor (ICCR Chair) at the Faculty of Computer & Information Sciences, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt.
Dr Raza has over 14 years of teaching and research experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
He has contributed over 150 peer-reviewed research articles in WoS/Scopus indexed journals, conference proceedings, and as book chapters. Dr Raza has authored/edited 14 Books published by reputed publishers like Springer-Nature, Elsevier, and CRC Press.
He has a Commulative Impact Point of over 300.
Dr Raza is an Academic Editor of PLoS ONE and BMC Artificial Intelligence, and Guest Editor of the Journals npj Precision Oncology , Mini-Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry , Natural Product Communications, and JoVE (Journal of Visualized Experiments). He has an active collaborations with the scientists from leading institutions of India and abroad, including AIIMS (New Delhi), ICMR-NIP, CSIR-IGIB, DRDO-INMAS, NIPGR, CCRUM, DPSRU, UFMG (Brazil), UoT Sydney (Australia), etc.
