A dog squad turned up at Batla House graveyard on Friday afternoon to catch stray dogs, according to a video which surfaced on the social media.

In the live FB video, a resident is heard saying after words spread in the locality about stray dogs digging graveyards of dead children in Batla House kabristan the committee informed the dog squad to come and catch the stray dogs.

In the video, Zakir Nagar Councillor Shoaib Danish is also seen directing dog catchers and interacting with the graveyard caretaker. In the video uploaded on the social media timeline of Danish,  he is heard saying he called the dog squad after he was informed about stray dogs digging graveyards and taking body parts of children.

However, a person sitting at the graveyard, most probably a caretaker, declined to comment on the issue and said the committee had informed the dog squad after it was known that stray dogs were digging graves in Batla House graveyard.

In the video some local residents are seen on the spot as the dog squad is seen catching the strays. Many residents have lamented that stray dogs have made life difficult as many dog biting cases have surfaced in the locality from time to time.

Many stray dogs are popular in the locality with residents taking care of them and in winter providing them warm clothes. In Zakir Nagar and other places in Jamia Nagar, many residents feed these stray dogs from time to time so that they don’t go hungry.
