Watch: Batla House dispensary outer area cries for attention

The outer area of Batla House dispensary in Okhla cries for attention and is in bad shape, according to residents. A resident told the OT over phone requesting anonymity that the area leading to the only Delhi Government-run dispensary in Batla House is in tatters.

Save community journalism by paying Rs 500, 1,000 and more.

“The entrance road which leads to the dispensary where mostly poor residents of the locality turn up for treatment is not paved. During rain it gets muddy and hard for patients to reach the dispensary. Besides, garbage is thrown all over by residents. Cars also parked illegally around,” he said.

A visit to the area shows it in pathetic state.

One resident said for many people the empty and open space around the dispensary is used for dumping garbage just to save a few bucks. “It is sad to see such attitude from people. Rather than playing positive role in upkeep the area so that doctors and patients don’t face hardship the opposite of it is happening here. No outsiders come here to dump garbage and park vehicles and at times even blocking the entrance of the dispensary. An awareness need to be created in the locality and respectable residents should come forward and play a positive role,” he said requesting not to be quoted.
