    Four students have been detained for allegedly creating a ruckus outside Jamia Milia Islamia University over the screening of the BBC documentary today: Delhi Police

    It is understood that the NSUI of the Congress had called for screening of the BBC documentary on the campus today at 6 pm. After the arrest of the students, In a message to the media, SFI Delhi State Committee has given a call for a “protest against student crackdown by Jamia at 4 pm outside gate number 7”.

    The SFI Jamia unit had decided to screen the BBC documentary today on the campus, it said, alleging that a few of its members have been arrested.

    After the surfacing of the screening of the series on the campus by NSUI on the campus, the university issued a notice.
    “This is to reiterate that no meeting, gathering of students shall be allowed in any part of the campus including lawns and gates without prior permission of the competent authority, falling which strict disciplinary action shall be taken against organisers,” said a notice issued by the Proctor.

    The Centre had criticised the BBC, describing it as “a propaganda effort aimed to propagate a specific discredited narrative.” The Foreign Ministry has stated that “the bias, lack of objectivity, and frankly continuing colonial mindset are blatantly visible.”
