Besides bad infrastructure, the dumping of garbage on roadsides has turned out to be a big issue with residents from time to time raising the issue with little impact as if cleanliness is not an issue for the ruling dispensation and Opposition leaders or self-proclaimed Facebookya activists nursing political ambitions or NGOs, said Okhla watchers.

Residents said the whole area has been turned into garbage dump with waste in open from Zakir Nagar to Batla House to Abul Fazal Enclave to Shaheen Bagh. A resident Usmani said the situation is such that one has to think twice before inviting office colleagues to house during festival season.

Reacting on the garbage dump on roadsides in Shaheen Bagh, one resident Eram Jahan wrote: “Around 10 years ago it was same…then in between it was cleaned. But from last two years this whole area has turned into an open dumping (garbage) yard. No MLA is there. No one is doing anything to clean the area.”

Also, residents said also the issue is raised during election time to impress upon the voters and forgotten for more than four years as aspirants or activists nursing political ambitions take no interest and move on with other works and issue remains as it is.
