Youth steals phone, cash from shop in broad daylight, alert Batla House residents catch him

Alert Batla House residents on Saturday caught a youth who after stealing phone and cash from a shop in Jogabai Extension in broad daylight was trying to flee, according to a resident.

In a social media post, Mahmood Ahmed wrote: “A man stole mobile and cash from a shop in Jogabai Extension today. After which the shopkeeper raised an alert. A few youths on the streets chased the robber and got hold of him. Later on he was handed over to the police. Good job!!! Let’s join hands against thieves and drug users.”

AAP youth leader Mahmood said such incidents are not good for the locality and people should join together to curb it. The incident has come after a few cases reported from Jamia Nagar.

It was only a few days ago when a resident from Zakir Nagar was attacked with a screwdriver when he had tried to stop two thieves who had broken into two empty flats. In the fight he sustained injuries on his head and face. After treatment, the resident Munawar is fine.

Besides, it was on Friday when a 28-year-old Mohsin Irfan was attacked with a sharp object when he had cornered a pickpocket during a chase in Abul Fazal Enclave outside Okhla Metro Station, said residents.

He received deep injuries and was first rushed to Al Shifa Hospital after getting first aid he was taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre. Mohsin is recovering, said a resident well aware about the development.
