Watch: Batla House girl falls off e-rickshaw, dragged on AFE road as 2 youths snatch her mobile

In a shocking incident on Abul Fazal Enclave-Kalindi Kunj road in broad daylight a girl lost her phone in a snatching incident. According to a family member, the incident took place around 9.30 am on June 28 when she was on her way to an institute in Shaheen Bagh from Batla House.

During the effort to save her phone, she fell off the e-rickshaw and was dragged on the road, said Okhla resident Anwar. He said she sustained injuries on her face and hand and now is recuperating at the house. “The family heaved a sigh of relief as the injuries are not serious,” he said.

Anwar told the OT that during her journey on the e-rickshaw as usual she was talking on her mobile and then suddenly between 6 number and 7 number lane in AFE two youths on a bike snatched her phone. “As she was holding it tight, one snatcher on the bike grabbed her wrist most probably due to which she lost her balance and in shock fell down the moving e-rickshaw and she was dragged. After the commotion, the e-rickshaw driver stopped and she recovered from the initial shock at what happened to her. By that time the two snatchers fled on the bike,” he said.

Residents lamented that this is not the first time that such an incident has happened in Okhla. A few days ago, an e-rickshaw driver said how one youth who was taking a photo while travelling on an e-rickshaw was a victim of snatching. He was taking a photo and suddenly two youths on a motorcycle arrived from nowhere and snatched his phone and zipped away, said the e-rickshaw driver.
