    2 caught red handed while stealing money from ATM

    Two burglars were arrested by police while stealing money from ATM and a screw driver, iron wire and a car were recovered from their possession.

    On a call that some suspicious activities were observed in ATM located in Jasola Vihar, police swung into action and reached the spot and saw two people trying to open the cash tray of ATM with a bent wire, police said, adding that they apprehended them.

    An FIR was registered at PS Sarita Vihar and investigation of the case was taken up, said police. The accused persons disclosed that they used to commit theft by using a specially made remote control, it said.

    “…When any customer came there to withdraw cash from ATM, they used to disconnect the power supply of ATM by using remote control. On this, the customer found that his transaction was not completed. As soon as the customer left ATM, the accused … used to enter the ATM and stole cash from the pocket cash tray by using screwdriver and bent iron wire,” said police.

    On sustained interrogation, both the accused disclosed that they had already committed two incidents with the same modus operandi and they disclosed that they had bought a car with the money stolen by them, said police, adding that they are addicted to alcohol and drugs and took plunge into the world of crime to meet their requirements.

    The incident happened in March 12.
