Ashu’s interview: “Confident of win, people will vote as my party SP donated land for Shaheen Bagh graveyard”

Samajwadi Party candidate from Abul Fazal Enclave-Shaheen Bagh ward, Ashu Khan, said he is confident of registering a win in MCD poll 2022. He said people will vote me as the Akhilesh Yadav party had donated a land years ago for Shaheen Bagh graveyard.

Khan said he has been Okhla politics for the last 22 years and is very positive of the win as residents are upset with AAP’s sitting Councillor Wajid Khan. “Ariba Khan from Congress doesn’t know the locality well and after marriage she might go from this locality and hence I am sure that this time around residents will support me,” he said.

Khan is out on bail after being arrested for his role in anti-CAA protest.

Khan said he is a dedicated social worker and will work hard to make the ward a model city. “Just see the area is not in good shape. There is garbage everywhere. Traffic jam and encroachment are major issues and after coming to power I will address all these issue,” he said.

This is not for the first time that Khan will be trying his luck in politics. Years ago when the seat was reserved for women, Khan had fielded his mother, who failed to sail through.

Delhi election commission has announced the elections schedule for the 250-ward Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The polling to be held on December 4 and the results will be declared on December 7, 2022.

Candidates of BJP, AAP, Congress and Chandra Shekhar parties are also in the race from the AFE-Shaheen Bagh ward.
