SC notice to Delhi police on plea by AAP MLA to drop ‘bad character’ tag
The Supreme Court on Monday sought response of the Delhi Police on a petition filed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Amanatullah Khan to drop the tag of ‘bad character’ on account of the pending criminal cases against him, reported the HT.
Amanatullah is MLA from Okhla and had won with record margin. He had moved the appeal after the Delhi High Court upheld the decision of the Delhi Police to list him as a “bad character.”
The High Court, however, dismissed the plea on January 19 this year, after having reserved the judgment on October 7, 2022.
While dismissing the plea, Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain of the High Court had stated that it was apparent from the record that the authorities followed the rules, reported barandbench.com.
