Denied ticket, Cong gives Aarfa new responsibility

After being denied ticket, Congress youth leader Advocate Aarfa Khanam has got a new responsibility in Delhi Congress. The development might give some to Aarfa who were heartbroken after she lost in the ticket race to Areeba Khan, daughter of former Congress MLA Asif Md Khan.

“In Delhi MCD elections I have been given responsibility of Chandni Chowk. I am thankful to the party for showing faith in my ability,” she wrote on her timeline just a few minutes ago.

During the demolition drive in Shaheen Bagh, Aarfa had grabbed headlines in the national media for her steps to stand in front of a bulldozer. The photo of hers with bandaged leg in front of the bulldozer in Shaheen Bagh had gone viral. For days, her story had appeared in the media and TV reporters flocked her Shaheen Bagh resident for her comments.

Looking at her growing popularity and her presence in local issues, many in Okhla had expected her to get Congress ticket. When it didn’t happen so, Aarfa followers were not so happy with the development.

And as the election campaign has entered into the last leg with voting for the 250 wards of MCD to be held on December 4, Aarfa, once a close aide of Asif Khan, is not seen campaigning for her daughter till now.
