    Most loved senior at Jamia’s SRK hostel in 1990 no more

    He was loved by juniors at SRK hostel in Jamia Millia Islamia during his stay on the campus in 1990 while studying engineering at the university.

    And his death a few days ago left many old Jamiaiites in deep shock.

    Md Shareef’s sudden death on January 2 has been talk of the virtual world among many Jamia alumni residing in Okhla. Recalling the old days when SRK Hostel used to buzz with activities 24X7, an alumnus said Shareef was a gentleman and he used to love his juniors and was always more than willing to guide them in the right direction.

    Another Jamia alumnus Nasir Sultan Qazi said he came know about his demise in UP.

    After completing his engineering in Electrical he left Delhi to join a job in UP and it was in Luknow that he passed away. The news about his death literally went viral in the SRK hostel and Jamia WhatsApp groups, said an alumnus.

    A Jamia-based alumnus, who knew him, said Shareef had undergone gallbladder operation a few days ago and a few days ago, he complained of pain and was rushed to a local hospital and he died on way.

    Another alumnus, who studied with Shareef from Class XI in Jamia school, said he was loved by all, including juniors, who called hi Shareef bhai.

    “He was originally from East Champaran. He did his schooling from Jamia from Class XI and then he did Bachelor in Engineering from Electrical. He was in 89 batch. We were from first electrical engineering batch at Jamia,” he said requesting not to be quoted.
