She had joined MANUU in 2006. Her untimely demise is unbelievable, irretrievable, irreversible and irreplaceable! MANUU has lost a pillar of strength! May her soul rest in peace and God grant her family the strength to bear the unbearable and shocking loss.”

Another netizen Mohammad Shabbir wrote on his timeline: “I am shocked and saddened knowing sad demise of Afshan, wife of Dr Mehmoodur Rehman, former VC of AMU. She was a great lady. She was gentle and decent. We were highly impressed by her virtues. She was quite alive on social, political, national and global issues. Through, Professor Shahid Akhtar, yesterday I learnt about her illness and hospitalisation in Jamia Hansard. In the morning I learnt that she is no more. Indeed her loss is irreparable to community, society and nation.”
