Inordinate delay in sewer work troubles residents, business suffers

The inordinate delay in sewer laying work has left many Abul Fazal Enclave residents seething. They said the work which started for more than a month is yet to be completed with the whole lane of Hari Kothi road and other roads still dug up with residents being forced to park their vehicles on roads.

Besides, many shop owners said their business has suffered as people have stopped coming to them due to dug up roads. We don’t have any complaint against sewer work being done but the main problem is that there is no deadline to complete it as you walk on several roads you can see for yourself how they have been left dug-up for more than a month and there is no sign of work to be started, said a resident on condition of anonymity.

The conditions in some streets are so bad that even during Eid-al-Adha they faced hardship due to dug-up roads. Residents complained that due to dug-up roads they face hardship and are unable to reach their houses with their vehicles and during emergency situations things become difficult. Moreover, rain makes life more difficult as the dug-up roads are full with water and it becomes muddy and slippery to walk on the road with several cases of mishap too being reported from time to time, said residents.
