Prof Naved Iqbal of Jamia receives British Academy visiting fellowship 2025
Prof Naved Iqbal, a distinguished academic from the Department of Psychology at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), has been awarded the prestigious British Academy Visiting Fellowship 2025. This international recognition adds another feather to his cap, reinforcing his reputation as a global scholar.

As part of the fellowship, Prof Iqbal will collaborate with Prof Sarah Halligan at the University of Bath, UK, on a research project titled “Support Available to Refugee Children and Their Families in India and the UK.” The project will analyse comparative support systems, focusing on psychological, social, and institutional factors that impact the well-being of refugee communities.

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Mazhar Asif also felicitated seven FET faculty members listed among the world’s top 2 per cent scientists, as per the 2023 rankings by Stanford University and Elsevier.

Jamia faculty members have done well in research and bagging international awards for their work. In 2024, the Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET), Jamia Millia Islamia instituted FET-JMI Research Awards 2024, for the first time, to recognise the contributions of the faculty members in research.
The awards were in three categories, Research Publications in SCI journals, Patents awarded and Sponsored Research projects, conceptualised by then Dean Prof Mini Shaji Thomas as an encouragement to appreciate the contributions of the best researchers of the Faculty.
The FET Research Awards for 2024 were distributed by Jamia Vice- Chancellor Prof Mazhar Asif, to Dr Musheer Ahmad of Computer Engineering for research publications, Dr. Abid Ali Khan of Civil Engineering for sponsored research project, Prof Sajad A. Loan of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Prof Munna Khan of Electrical Engineering received the research award for patents.
The Vice Chancellor also felicitated seven faculty members of FET for getting listed among the world’s top 2 per cent scientists. Felicitation was for the research credentials of year 2023 published in Sept 2024. The said list, of world’s top 2 per cent scientists, is curated by Meta Center Stanford University USA, and is published by Elsevier every year. Faculty members, who were felicitated at the function were Prof Abid Haleem, Dr Mohd Javaid and Prof Arshad Noor Siddiqee of Mechanical Engineering, Dr Ahteshamul Huque and Prof Tarikul Islam of Electrical Engineering, Dr Musheer Ahmad of Computer Engineering and Dr Faheem Ahmad of Applied Sciences and Humanities.
