In a significant achievement for Telangana’s higher education landscape, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has demonstrated exceptional performance in teacher training programs, establishing itself as the state’s leading institution while securing impressive national rankings. The data, released by the University Grants Commission (UGC), showcases MANUU’s remarkable success across multiple training initiatives under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centres (MMTTC) programme.

Within Telangana, MANUU has emerged as the frontrunner, leading in three out of four major training categories. The university topped the state charts in NEP Orientation, Faculty Induction Program (292 beneficiaries), and Short-Term Program (283 beneficiaries). In the Refresher Course category, MANUU maintained a strong presence with 638 beneficiaries, securing the second position in the state behind Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad.
The comprehensive data analysis reveals MANUU’s consistent performance at the national level, maintaining positions within the top 15 across all programs. In the Faculty Induction Program, the university ranked seventh nationally, while securing the thirteenth position in Short Term Programs and twelfth in Refresher Courses.
What makes these achievements particularly noteworthy is that MANUU has outperformed several prestigious institutions in multiple categories. This success reflects the institution’s robust infrastructure, dedicated faculty, and strategic approach to teacher training.
These achievements align with the national objective of strengthening teacher training and educational quality under the NEP 2020 framework. The university’s performance not only strengthens Telangana’s position in the national education sector but also reinforces its commitment to excellence in teacher education and professional development.
“These numbers reflect our dedicated approach to capacity building in higher education. Our focus has been on creating a comprehensive ecosystem for teacher training that addresses both pedagogical innovations and NEP implementation challenges,” said Prof. Saneem Fatima, Director of MMTTC-MANUU. She emphasised that the university’s success stems from its inclusive approach and commitment to educational excellence.
The university has trained an impressive 3,954 beneficiaries under the NEP Orientation and Sensitisation programme, securing the second position nationally, just behind Delhi’s Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College.
Dr. Meraj Ahmed Mubarki, Assistant Director of MMTTC-MANUU, attributed this success to the collaborative effort of the faculty and staff. “Our achievement, particularly in NEP orientation, demonstrates MANUU’s preparedness in adapting to educational reforms. We’ve focused on creating practical, implementable training modules that resonate with educators’ needs while aligning with national objectives,” he noted.
Meanwhile, to realise the vision of Skill India & with an objective to create employable, skilled technical health workers, the Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) established the Department of Vocational Studies & Skill Development under School Of Sciences. The Vice Chancellor Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan officially launched the webpage of the department yesterday and also released the pamphlet detailing various allied health courses being offered.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Prof Syed Ainul Hasan appreciated the content and design of the webpage and assured full support towards the development of the new Department. He advised the staff to work with dedication and sincerity to excel in their streams. The Vice-Chancellor also made an announcement regarding the progress in the HEFA proposal for the new School of Sciences and Department of Vocational Studies & Skill Development Building.
Prof PF Rahman, Senior Professor, Department of Zoology and Prof H Aleem Basha, Dean School of Sciences also spoke on the occasion.
Prof Najam ul Hasan, Prof Salman Ahmed Khan, Prof Arif Ahmed, Prof Rafeeq Abu Turab along with the faculty of Dept of Vocational Studies & Skill Development were present on the occasion. Prof. S Maqbool Ahmad, Nodal Officer delivered a welcome address and gave introduction of allied health courses in the university and their progress till date. The program concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Kulsoom Zahra.
Meanwhile, admissions are open for entrance based PhD Allied Health Sciences (MLT) and merit based postgraduate programme M.Voc (MLT & MIT). The last date for PhD is May 13, 2025 and for M.Voc application form can be submitted upto June 04, 2025. In another development, biodiversity pond and modern medical facilities were inaugurated.
“Health care and environmental protection together create a healthy environment.” These views were expressed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan. He was addressing a ceremony held yesterday after the inauguration of the Biodiversity Pond on the campus of Maulana Azad National Urdu University. He said that the rapid decline in groundwater levels and the increase in temperature being recorded in the city of Hyderabad are a matter of great concern.
As an important step to restore groundwater levels, a biodiversity pond has been launched at the MANUU campus, in which the university’s used water is initially being released, and in the next phase, there are plans to collect monsoon water as well so that groundwater can be recharged before next summer, he added. Prof. Ainul Hasan also informed that solar panels will be installed and capacities will be increased at MANU Campus Hyderabad to meet the increasing demand for electricity on the campus

Dr. Iqbal Khan, Incharge Engineering Section delivered opening remarks. Mr. Mohd Inthesarul Baqi, Assistant Engineer conducted the proceedings, and Mr. T. Santosh, Assistant Engineer presented the vote of thanks.
The Vice Chancellor also inaugurated various modern medical equipment-based facilities at the University Health Center of MANUU, including 2 bedside multi-parameter monitors, 2 ECG machines, 2 digital weighing scales, 6 BP apparatus, 6 IR thermometers, 10 stethoscopes.
Prof. Farida Siddiqui, I/c Health Centre, Dr. K. Riyaz, CMO, Dr. Syed Hammad Hashmi, MO, Dr. Humera Fatima, RMO, and other members of the Health Center were present on the occasion. According to Dr. K Riyaz the Federal Bank has donated these equipment under the Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme, which will ensure better medical facilities to the students at the Health Center.
