Anisur Rahman told the OT over phone from Kalindi hospital in Jasola that he came to know about it today after his blood test was out and since then on doctors’ suggestion, he has been hospitalised.

A few days ago, Rahman’s wife had also contracted dengue, undergoing treatment in the same hospital. Rahman said two other members of his family were down with dengue fever, but they recovered.

Kalindi hospital director Mubasshir Hussain told the OT over phone that some residents who came for treatment in his hospital have been diagnosed dengue.

Cases have been mild but patients are complaining of new symptoms like vomiting, headache and other new ailment, he said.

A civic report released on Monday said the national Capital till October 9, recorded a total of 480 cases of the virus.

As reported by ANI: Suresh Kumar, Director of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital, said: “There has been a rise in dengue cases due to prolonged monsoon period and different transmission cycles of mosquitoes, which changes every year.”

Kumar said as of now, most of the cases reported in Delhi are mild, not severe.

“A new virus is created or mutation takes place in it. This time, most of the cases are either mild or moderate. No severe case is there,” he said, as per the report.
