Burglar strikes at Jamia Nagar flat when couple asleep, uses unexpected route

Another theft incident has been reported from Jamia Nagar and this time a burglar targeted a family when they were sleeping in their flat early morning. A resident, who lost two phones, cash and other items in the theft, said they were left shocked with the incident which took place in his second floor flat.

“We have been residing in the area for the last four years and we never faced such things. Our landlord take special care of security as the main gates are kept closed throughout the day and entry to outsiders is barred after 10 pm. Water delivery boys are not allowed in and for the last four years I have been sleeping with my terrace door open to get some fresh air. Two days ago when I got up at 7 pm I realised that my two phones were missing. I don’t know when the burglar came in as I am very alert. I suspect that he must have made us unconscious. I lodged a police complaint,” said the resident, requesting his name not to be published.

Also, he requested that his exact location too should not be revealed. The incident took place in Abul Fazal Enclave.

“There is a hostel next door where people doing menial jobs reside and I suspect somebody from there had entered my house from the balcony but I am not sure,” he said.

When he confronted them they too narrated stories of their belongings being stolen from their rooms, he said.
The resident, a professional, said after interacting with other residents over theft he came to know that many such incidents have taken place.

The OT had reported about a theft a few days ago from a flat in Abul Fazal Enclave in which a resident had lost his hard-earned money. In another incident which took place in Zakir Nagar a few days ago, a resident said how a burglar had sneaked into a shop when its owner had gone to offer namaz. The burglar was caught red-handed by another resident who was watching from his top floor, a resident had said then.

A Batla House resident said there are people who even steel light bulbs. “I have put a light bulb so as my street is not left in the dark. But I have notice that every month or two I have to buy a new one,” he said.
