3 premises used by PFI in Jamia Nagar ordered to be sealed

A day after the Central government banned the Popular Front of India (PFI) and its eight affiliates for five years under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, for a period of five years, reports surfaced on Thursday that three premises used by the PFI in Delhi, including all in Jamia Nagar, have been ordered to be sealed.

According to a Union Home Ministry notification, funds of the PFI will be frozen.

The premises ordered to be sealed are F-30/1B, Ground Floor, Zaid Apartment, near Royal Hotel, Shaheen Bagh; N-44/A-1, Hilal House, Ground Floor, Abul Fazal Enclave, Jamia Nagar; and B-27/2, 3rd Floor, Thokkar No-7, Jamia Nagar, reported PTI.

“I, hereby, also empower the SHO, or any other Inspector of PS Shaheen Bagh to take all actions necessary for the execution of this notification,” the commissioner said in the notification.

A day after the ban on PFI, life has returned to normal in Jamia Nagar with residents seen busy in daily work. On Wednesday, TV reporters had flocked the PFI building in Shaheen Bagh looking for news. Security was also upped in the locality. The reporters were seen interacting with the local residents with some give bites and many just avoiding the media.

On Tuesday in second phase of pan-India crackdown on PFI, several people were arrested from the locality, including Shaheen Bagh early morning.
