AAP’s Amanatullah Khan to stay behind bars for 5 more days in Waqf board case.

Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan, who was arrested on Friday in a case related to alleged illegal appointments in the Delhi Waqf Board, is going to be in the custody of the Anti-Corruption Branch for the next five more days. The ACB has alleged that while working as Chairman of Delhi Waqf Board, Khan had illegally recruited 32 people violating guidelines.

He was presented in the court today after staying in ACB custody for days. And since Tuesday the MLA’s followers were looking forward to see him walk out of the ACB custody as many among them had turned up at the court. After the development they were left dejected.

The ACB also said he had “misappropriated the funds of Delhi Waqf Board comprising grants in aid from Delhi Government”. During raids on several places in the locality on Friday, the officials had seized ₹ 24 lakh and two illegal weapons, it said. Also, four people were arrested for obstructing the raid on Khan’s house in Batla House.

Khan in a video message had said he is being framed in the case and the MLA’s wife in a video said nothing was found from their house.

AAP has stood by its MLA, alleging that the arrest was “baseless” and the case against him “bogus”.

“Nothing has been found in the raids at his home and office. This is a new attempt to malign AAP and tarnish the image of the MLA,” the party said.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia tweeted in Hindi: “First, they arrested Satyendar Jain but there is no evidence against him in court. They raided my residence. Nothing was found. Then they initiated a fake probe against Kailash Gahlot, and now they arrested Amanatullah Khan. Operation Lotus continues to break each leader of AAP.”
