Adequate publicity was made in all the buses of the route no 473 to inform and apprise the commuters about how to download and use use a mobile app and to buy a mobile ticket. All the conductors were given online training to assist the commuters during the trial by the team of IIIT Delhi.

Delhi’s Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot had constituted a Task Force under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (cluster) for timely coordination and implementation of exploring the options of contactless mobile ticketing inside DTC and Cluster buses so that no physical contact between conductor and commuter took place due to exchange of cash or ticket.

On the recommendation of this Task Force, the Transport Department had decided to conduct a public trial of the mobile contactless ticketing system.

Any commuter can avail this contactless ticketing facility by downloading an app, he said.

Any commuter can avail this contactless ticketing facility by downloading a special app developed with the technical support of IIIT Delhi for this project – Chatr.

To download the App, the user has to search for ‘Chartr’ app on play store and download the app or the user can send ‘Hi’ on WhatsApp to 9910096264, the user will get the app URL. Ticket booking can be done in two ways. In case a user know the ticket fare, he/she can open the app and click on “BY FARE”, scan the QR Code of the bus, select Buy New Ticket and choose the payment option to get the ticket.

In case a user know the route, source and destination, s/he can click on “By Destination”, select the Bus Route and Source stop, select Destination stop, click on Buy and Scan Bus QR code and Choose the payment option to pay and get the ticket.
