    Jamia mourns death of well-known alumnus, TV journalist Shamshad

    The news of the sudden demise of Jamia alumnus and Okhla resident Shamshad Anjum Khan has left his friends and family members in a state of deep shock. Many people who knew Khan from his university days took to social media platforms to offer their condolences. Haseeb Anwar said he died of heart attack today after being hospitalised to Holy Family Hospital. Khan was 49 years old.

    A resident of Zakir Nagar, people who knew Khan said he had no past heart ailment history and hence his sudden death left them in shock. Many Jamia alumni rushed to the Holy Family Hospital to be with the family members.

    At 6 am when he felt pain in his chest he himself, along with his wife, reached Holy Family Hospital and nobody realised that he had suffered a heart attack and was under observation in emergency ward, said a friend close to the family.

    At 8.30 am, Khan suffered second heart attack and he was shifted to the ICU but within few minutes doctors declared him dead, said Tarique Siddique, who knew Khan since his Jamia days.

    As news of his death spread on the social media, friends started posted condolence messages.

    Khan, originally from Islampur in Gaya, was a well-known Jamia alumnus.

    He worked as editor with Zee news and then moved to Sahara news channel in Delhi.

    He did his bachelor in Urdu and Master’s in Sociology from Jamia. He was very active during his student’s life in the university and served as Cabinet member in the Jamia students’ union 1993-94.

    Namaz-e-janaza will be performed on August 1 at Jamia Jama Masjid at 5.15 pm and tadfin will be done at Batla House Qabristan after namaz Asar.

    He has left behind a wife, three children including two daughters and one son.
