All Delhi hospitals advised to remain alert amid increasing cases of corona, but no need to panic: Health Minister Jain

In view of the increasing cases of corona in Delhi, the Delhi Government said it has geared up to deal with it.

Delhi on Friday recorded 366 fresh Covid-19 cases and zero death, while the positivity rate rose further to 3.95 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department.

“Covid-19 cases have witnessed a surge in Delhi in the last two days. But the Kejriwal Government is fully prepared to deal with the coronavirus,” said Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain.

“The Delhi Government is closely monitoring the situation and the government does not want to take any risk. We have completely overhauled our health infrastructure. Along with this, all hospitals have been advised to remain alert amidst increasing cases of Corona in Delhi. To prevent the spread of Corona, the Delhi Government is doing contact tracing of Corona patients.

“At the same time, RTPCR testing will also be increased if needed. To prevent the spread of Corona, the Delhi Government is working on the principle of test, trace and treat,” he said.

Addressing the situation, Arvind Kejriwal said: “We are keeping a close eye on rising cases of corona. Hospital admissions are not increasing, so there is no need to panic. Nothing to worry about as of now.”

Jain appealed to the people to get vaccinated at the earliest and said: “Prevention is better than cure. All those who have not yet taken the vaccine or have taken only the first dose, should be taken to their nearest health facility as soon as possible for complete vaccination.”

He said: “Wearing a mask while leaving the house can prevent most cases. Even though cases of corona have increased in Delhi, the number of patients admitted to hospitals is still normal. Apart from this, the XE variant has not been included in the list of Variants of Concern by the World Health Organization. So there is no need to panic. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) will meet on April 20 to discuss the rise in corona cases and measures to contain the spread of the epidemic. In this future strategies will be discussed.”

The Delhi government, ready to fight the coronavirus pandemic, has instructed officials to keep an eye on the new form of the coronavirus and increase vigilance, said a statement.

On the orders of the Chief Minister, about 37 thousand Covid beds and 10,594 Covid ICU beds have been prepared in the State.

“If the infection spreads, the government has planned to increase 100 oxygen beds in every ward of Delhi within two weeks. In such a situation, the Delhi government plans to prepare 65,000 beds, so that no person has to face shortage of beds in an emergency situation,” it said.
