    Delhi reports 4,099 fresh cases, 1 death on Monday; positivity at 6.46%

    Delhi reports 4,099 fresh cases, 1 death on Monday; positivity at 6.46%

    The positivity rate in Delhi is increasing for the last few days. On Monday it was at 6.46 per cent with the city registering 4,099 fresh Covid-19 cases and one person died due to the infection.

    1,509 patients have recovered.

    As the cases in Delhi increased, Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Monday said over 81 per cent of the total samples sequenced over the last two days were found to have the Omicron variant. Of the 187 samples sequenced in the two days, 152 were classified as Omicron, as per the data shared by the Delhi government.

    “As per genome sequencing reports of December 30-31 from three labs – at Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, Lok Nayak Hospital and National Centre for Disease Control – 84 per cent samples were infected with Omicron. Most of the cases are of Omicron,” he said in the Delhi Assembly.

    The health bulletin confirmed the data.
