On the eve of Gurpurab or Guru Nanak Jayanti, which is widely celebrated by the Sikh community residing in India and different parts of the world, Aseem Asha said he visited the Gurudwara with members of his Aseem Asha Foundation and distributed sweets and even lit diyas there.

On this special occasion, the Gurudwara was well decked up with devotees pouring in from the locality and across the national Capital.

Guru Nanak is one of the ten celebrated Sikh gurus who helped in shaping Sikhism, and November 19 was his 542nd birth anniversary celebrations.

Aseem, who runs Aseem Asha Foundation headquartered in Johri Farm, said as it is an auspicious day we went there for communal amity.

The Aseem Asha Foundation’s move has been appreciated by local residents who said such moves are important for strengthening brotherhood between the two communities.

The development has come on a day when, according to media report a day ago, members of the Sikh community had offered premises of gurudwaras for Muslims to pray after several sites designated for namaz in Gurgaon were seized in the wake of objecting “locals and residents” welfare associations (RWAs).

Speaking to news agency ANI, President of Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Sherdil Singh Sidhu said: “It’s ‘Guru Ghar’, open for all communities with no discrimination. There shouldn’t be any politics here. Basement is now open for Muslim brothers who want to offer ‘Jumme ki namaz’.

“People who were offering namaz in open sought administration’s permission and those who had problem should have approached administration before attacking them.”
