    Delhi Metro restarts operations: All you need to know

    Delhi Metro restarts operations: Here are new rules

    The Metro resumed its services on Monday with only 50 per cent of the seating capacity.

    Passengers were allowed to travel by seating only on alternate seats with no provision for standing travel till further directions, said the DMRC.

    “In view of this stipulation, the capacity utilisation of the system will be around 10-15 per cent of its total capacity available in normal days,” said Anuj Dayal, Executive Director, (Corporate Communications) DMRC.

    Entry for a few of our stations are being intermittently closed and opened for short duration to ensure social distancing as part of our crowd control measures, tweeted DMRC a few hours ago on Monday, adding that please bear with us and allow for extra time in your commute.

    In another tweet, the DMRC said: “We’re back on track! Travel only if it’s necessary and please follow the protocols which are in place for you & your fellow passengers’ safety.

    It was on May 10 when the Delhi Metro services were stopped as Delhi had imposed Covid-induced lockdown to contain spread of the virus.

    On Sunday (June 6), the national Capital saw 381 new infections, the lowest since March 15, while the positivity rate stood at 0.5 per cent and 34 people died in a day. Now, Delhi has a total of 14,29,244 coronavirus cases, of which, 24,591 have died, whereas, 5,889 are active cases.
